Australian Cattle Dog – Heeler Puppy

About this pet

about 5 months old, he’s had his 1st round of shots but will need 2 more. he was brought into my work after being found by the river. The people who found him expressed that the shelters wouldn’t take him and they would just dump him if nobody took him right away. my wife and I have another heeler at home and have been considering a 2nd dog, so decided to foster him to see if he might be a good fit and to give him a good place while we tried to find his original owner. we got him his first round of shots, a bed, crate, toys, a collar and leash. he has been answering to the name skunk and we’ve taught him to sit, wait, lay down, give paw as well as ring a bell to go potty, though he does still struggle w that sometimes. I don’t think he had any prior experience with living inside a home, he didn’t know what toys or treats were. He rides in a car very well and does not get carsick. It’s been a couple weeks with us, and there’s a few things telling us we aren’t ready to take on a second dog just yet, the biggest reason being space and time since we both work, not his behavior. In fact he’s incredibly personable and friendly especially for a heeler. All he wants to do is cuddle. he has gotten along well with every single dog we’ve seen him interact with, most notably, he does fantastic with small dogs. He is not anxious around people, he likes men and women and kids. He’s genuinely an amazing dog, but we want to be responsible and call it before he gets too settled. we both work full time and he needs some focused training to help him transition. because he was found outside the jurisdiction of our shelters, nowhere will take him. We’ve tried finding the owners to no avail. If you have any information on the original owner or are interested in meeting him, contact us here or at ***. comes w all his supplies, small fee to weed out those who buy dogs for fights and to cover the shots and exam. pls reach out with any questions!
