About this pet

Artie is an absolutely amazing dog (I know everyone says this, but he truly is!) He is about 2 years old. He hasn’t met anybody he doesn't like and he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He is goofy, playful, and has an innocent curiosity about the world. He loves to snuggle and be around people, and has never shown any resource guarding with food or toys. He is 97% house-trained, partially crate-trained, and knows many basic commands and has proven he can learn new ones quickly. Artie was failed by the world during a dog's crucial developmental months. I’ve spoken to professionals and he is best described as a sweet, young boy who needs to learn some manners. He is very high energy and needs consistent, firm training and outlets for his energy. He needs an experienced owner to guide him, or someone who is able to invest in excellent professional training. He needs a home with outdoor space. He is friendly with all dogs, but his play style is not compatible with every dog. I don’t know how he is with children or cats, but believe it’s best that he is not introduced at the time. Artie’s pain point is nipping in order to communicate his needs (wants attention, wants to play, etc.) Typically this behavior would end when a dog is much younger, but Artie was never properly taught that. His nipping is not aggression, it is poor communication and because he is still fairly young, there is no doubt in my mind that the behavior is correctable. I’m looking to re-home Artie because I can’t financially support his training needs and my living situation is not ideal for him. Artie needs a home with more space and he needs a very patient family/owner to seriously commit to working with him. I’m committed to being fully transparent throughout this process so Artie finds a permanent home where he can continue growing into his full potential.
