Safety & trust
Rehome and adopt pets safely
We built Pets Home App to solve a critical problem in the pet industry: online pet adoption scams. Every year, families looking to adopt pets fall victim to fraudsters selling fake puppies, kittens, and other animals online. We created a safer alternative.
Built for Safety
Direct local connections
We connect you directly with pet owners, breeders, and adopters in your local area. Most successful pet adoptions happen locally, where you can meet the pet in person before committing.
No financial transactions through the app
We never handle money. All arrangements happen between you and the seller/adopter, reducing scam opportunities.
Protected Contact System
We don't share direct contact details publicly. You must message users through our in-app chat first. This protects both parties from spam, harassment, and phone number harvesting.
Stay safe when meeting owners and adopters
- Meet in person and see the pet before paying anything.
- Never pay a deposit by bank transfer, gift card or crypto.
- Ask for vaccination and vet records.
- Meet in safe public places and verify pet ownership documents.
- Never send money upfront or wire money to strangers.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it probably is.
Your responsibility: If you exchange contact details via DMs, always do your due diligence. Meet in safe public places, verify ownership, and never send money upfront.
What We Do (and Don't Do)
We are: A connecting platform for pet lovers, breeders, adopters, and rehomers. We facilitate communication, provide AI tools, and build community.
We are NOT: A payment processor, pet transporter, or verifier of individual sellers. We don't handle financial transactions or guarantee pet quality.
Our commitment: We actively warn users about scams, block suspicious accounts, and provide safety guidelines. However, users must always exercise due diligence when meeting strangers and exchanging money.
Important Safety Notice
While we work hard to prevent scams by warning users, blocking suspicious accounts, and educating our community, some bad actors may still slip through.
Always practice safe adoption: Meet in public places, verify pet ownership documents, never wire money to strangers, and trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it probably is. We are not responsible for individual transactions, but we're here to help report and block scammers when you encounter them.
Safety FAQs
Where can I safely find a home for my dog or cat online?
Pets Home App provides a secure platform to connect with caring pet adopters. While we use standard authentication methods (Google, Facebook, Apple ID, phone), we recommend doing your own due diligence when meeting potential adopters to ensure your pet's welfare.
How do I verify potential adopters are legitimate?
While Pets Home App uses authentication methods for user accounts, also ask questions about the adopter's experience with pets, living situation, and plans for your pet. Trust your instincts and don't hesitate to ask for references or proof of pet-friendly housing if needed.
What should I do if someone wants to adopt my pet sight unseen?
We strongly recommend always arranging a meet-and-greet before finalizing any pet rehoming. Legitimate adopters will want to meet the pet and see if it's a good fit for their family. Be cautious of anyone offering to pay extra or arrange shipping without meeting your pet first.
How do I know my pet is going to a good home?
While we provide the platform to connect, it's the adopter's and seller's responsibility to perform due diligence. We recommend meeting potential adopters, asking questions about their experience and living situation, and using your best judgment to ensure your pet finds a suitable home.
How do I handle inquiries about my kittens for adoption?
Respond promptly to serious inquiries through Pets Home App's messaging system. Ask potential adopters about their experience with cats, living situation, and expectations. Arrange safe meetups in public places or your home based on your comfort level.
Is it legal to rehome pets online in my state?
Pet rehoming laws vary by state and locality. Pets Home App operates as a platform for connections, but you are responsible for complying with local regulations regarding pet transfers, licensing, and health requirements. Check with your local authorities for specific rules.
